An early February weekend in Santa Barbara

An early February weekend in Santa Barbara. California looks good on me

View of Pacific Ocean and palm trees from Pacific Surfliner train Train travel is so much more civilized than air travel.  The Pacific Surfliner from LA to Santa Barbara makes you feel like you are traveling through different movie sets.  Graffitied rocks, mountains that make you think you are riding through an old western movie, small towns and at last the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

. Santa Barbara beaches are plentiful, easy to get to and I saw plenty of parking.  Watch the sunrise and the sunset. Make a wish on the moon.  Surf.  Watch for seals or just listen to the ocean.

Eller's Donuts. Look up in the trees and you might see a murder of crows.  Get there before daybreak and enjoy a crow symphony while you eat the most delicious donuts served by the nicest people.

View from Clock Tower at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. The Santa Barbara County Courthouse is a functioning courthouse.  If the courts are in session you can even slip in and watch the action.

Pastrami menu at Norton's Deli in Santa Barbara. Norton's Deli is said to have the best pastrami in town.  I ordered the NYC which is a delicious twist on the classic Rubin.  It was YUM.  They have an extensive menu if pastrami is not your thing.

Fess Parker as Daniel Boone. Fess Parker is best known for his roles as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone.  You can even buy a little coonskin cap for your wine bottle at the winery.  Sweeping views and really good wine at the family-owned Fess Parker Winery and Vineyard.

can of wine on an outdoor table at The Shop American Kitchen. Be careful or you might just walk by.  Enjoy the view and a drink while you wait for a table.  The Shop has a unique menu with many delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
